The Nomad Book Weight was born out of a desire to have a no fuss, packable book weight while traveling. To that end the Nomad begins with a high quality leather strap mated to solid brass bars for weight (which will also take on a beautiful patina over time).

We try to make sure all the finish details are attended to, and every leather strap is hand beveled to give it the end look it deserves. These Nomads utilize solid brass binding posts and fastening hardware, either snap or button head stud. 

The snap head works better on stiffer leathers and the button well on more pliable pieces. In either case, as the leather is worked and it softens the closure system becomes easier to manipulate. We intentionally like them a bit tight from the start so they're just right as they're broken in – like a baseball glove. 

Anti-slip pads on the bottoms of the weights are just grippy enough to keep things in place but not so grippy as to harm the pages.

Keep in mind that natural brass will tarnish in time and lose its brightness. Periodic cleaning with a high quality metal cleaner is recommended if the brighter finish is desired, but not recommended with this product as the cleaner may stain the leather strap.
