We've simplified the design of the Bookwarden by exchanging the series of snaps for a series of shouldered buttons. Rather than having to readjust three snaps, the Bookwarden can now be adjusted by routing the shock cord around the buttons. See photos for examples of this.
The Bookwarden is an absurdly expandable and overprotective slipcase for your literary travels. Originally conceived of after yet-one-more book cover was bent in my backpack, I wanted a portable case for whatever book(s) I might be carrying, but also one that would allow me to remove one book from the case without having to remove all the books (and case) from my pack.
I daily carry one with whatever book I'm currently reading (in my lunchbox, no less), and when traveling I tend to load it up as I'm not a light literary traveler. Once I'm to my destination the Bookwarden makes for a nicely organized travel bookshelf as it stands on end when fit with a couple of books or more.
While I prefer my book books, you will occasionally find my Kindle parked between a couple of paperbacks, or perhaps a journal or sketchbook. I'll even slide various and sundry things under the shock cord straps from time to time.
Speaking of which, the shock cord strap allows for the adjustability to fit the range of books that make the Bookwarden so versatile. The cord can be routed a myriad of ways around the buttons (think elementary school rubber bands wrapped around a grid of nails on a board) and can be quickly adjusted to change the hold on the books or to open it up for loading a large stack (single books can be slid in with ease without unstrapping anything).
On the opposite side of the three straps is a singular 'keeper' button. This button is primarily used when a singular book is kept in the Bookwarden and you want to have access to the book without having to unstrap anything. The excess length of the cord can be hooked around this button–and if you want to keep the book from escaping, simply wrap it over the access side of the Bookwarden and hook it on the appropriate button and the Bookwarden is closed off on all four sides.
The Bookwarden fits books up to 6.75" x 9.25" and will expand to hold upwards of 7" worth of book thickness, or more if you're slightly insane.
